Popular Web site worldstarhiphop.com has been put to rest.Rapper 50 Cent quickly took the credit for the demise of the highly known site.
He called New York radio station Hot 97 to give his reasoning of the shut down.
According to billboard.com, he said, “I took a lawsuit… we’ve been through the process for a while.”
He then continued, “Two weeks from now we’ll be in mediation to find out exactly how much they owe me.
“They’ve been advertising me on Worldstar for two years straight.
“They used the ‘I Am Robot’ image at the top of the site and my head was on the actual robot.”
WSHH owner and CEO, Q, then called into the radio station to negate 50 Cent’s claims.
“It’s a technical difficulty and has nothing to do with 50 or homeland security or hackers,” he said.
Then continued to say, “We’re more or less having difficulties with the site itself as far as our server. We’re getting so much traffic we constantly have to upgrade.”
Q then continued to remind listeners that this is not the first time this has happened.
“We were down in ’07because we got hacked. We got hacked last year and we’ve also had problems with our bandwidth before,” he said according to billboard.com.
50 Cent took to Twitter to boast about how much “power” he has.
“I don’t know why people underestimate me.
“I just shut down WORLDSTAR for future advertising contact thisis50.com suckers lol …
“Take a guess who they are. I’m sick of the hate I’m [too] strong.”
He added, “I want to thank [H]oward [G]ordon and the good folks over at homeland [security].”
In November 2009, 50 Cent filed a lawsuit against WSHH for unauthorized usage of his image plastered across their homepage.
He claimed that the photo was “misleading and caused many visitors to think he owned the site,” according to xxlmag.com.
He is expected to go to court in two weeks.
Q, being an associate of 50 Cent’s close affiliate DJ Whoo Kid since 1999, blamed the entire ordeal and lawsuit on a personal miscommunication between himself and 50 Cent, according to allhiphop.com.
The rapper predicts that more Web sites will soon be in WSHH’s place.
“I predict 2 more web sites will shut down this week. Take a guess who they are. I’m sick of the hate I’m (too) strong,” he tweeted.
Although 50 Cent said that in the new year he is “encouraging people to be completely positive” and to “live better,” he also said that he has “old things that have to be dealt with.
