Teacher/Graduate School Fair  to be held on campus April 4

Monday, April 4 is the date that school districts will be on campus looking to hire prospective graduates to teach.

The event is the Teacher Educational/Graduate School Fair from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Black and Gold Room in Favrot Student Union.

The Office of Career Services has announced that more than 25 school districts will be on hand.

The Fair is open to anyone, not just students.

The Office of Retention releases student subject tutorial schedule

The Grambling State University Office of Retention has announced its tutorial schedule for the semester.

Tutorial for biology 103, 104, 113, and 114, for chemistry 111, and for English 101 and 102 will be held through April 29.

Student Counseling Wellness Group to began Tuesday, April 5

The Student Counseling and Wellness Resource Center will host the “E.M.P.H.A.S.I.S.” Empowerment Group five-week session beginning April 5 until May 3.

Wellness Group sessions are held every Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the “Tiger Room” of the Student Counseling Center. Because space is limited to 12 students per session, students are encouraged to reserve a spot.

The topic include, Introduction to EMPHASIS (Dr. Speed) April 5, Character of Success (Bobo) April 12, Letting Go of My “Bad” (Turner) April 19, The Change Starts With Me (Gibson) April 26 and My Voice My Decision From This Day Forward (Everyone for Final Group) May 3.

Mathematics tutorial clinic open to all Grambling State students

The Quality Enhancement Plan at Grambling State University has kicked off its Mathematics Clinic.  The clinic will be available Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. in Carver Hall, Room 136 until April 28.  

The Mathematics Clinic is an opportunity for students to receive individual assistance from faculty outside the classroom.  All mathematics students may participate, however students registered in MATH147 (Pre-calculus I) and MATH148 (Pre-calculus II) are required to attend.

The 2016-2017 student FAFSA filing time is fastly approaching

The FAFSA application for the 2016-2017 Academic Year is now available on FAFSA.ed.gov. Please complete the application after you and/or your parents have filed taxes for 2015.

If you and/or your parents are not required by the federal government to file taxes, please complete the 2016-2017 FAFSA now, said Gavin R. Hamms, director of the Office of Student Financial Aid & Scholarships. The priority deadline is April 15, but please act immediately!

Local group seeks the assistance of producers, track makers and music engineers for a project.

The group is looking for producers, track makers and music engineers for an industry standard project. Create and mix and master, R&B/Soul, Hip Hop/Rap, and Blues tracks.

Canterbury Association to at St. Luke’s Chapel on Sunday, April 3 

The Canterbury Association will meet on  Sunday, April 3 at 4 p.m. at St. Luke’s Chapel. The church is located at 538 Main St., Grambling, Louisiana.  All students are welcome.

Department of Curriculum and   instruction to hold Praxis core

The Grambling State University Department of Curriculum & Instruction will offer the Praxis Core/PLT study sessions remaining schedule.

 The next session is Tuesday, April 26. Writing will be held on Thursday, April 21. All sessions will be held in Charles P. Adams Room 216 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Student Government Association announces schedule for meetings 

The Grambling State University Student Government Association officials are encouraging students to attend the monthly general student body meeting. The next general student body meetings are set for today and Thursday, April 21. All meetings are held in the Favrot Student Union Theater at 6 p.m.

Favrot Student Union Board to sponsor April activities

The Favrot Student Union Board is releasing its schedule of activities for the month of April. 

If you are interested in being an opening act in the 2016 Tiger Fest concert to be held on April 14 please bring your CD to office 221 in the Favrot Student Union or mail it to Grambling State University, Favrot Student Union Board, 403 Main St. – Campus Box 4234, Grambling, LA 71245. Deadline to submit is today. This is open to the public. However, enrolled students must not have a judicial record within the past year.

Upcoming events will include voting for student choice awards until Thursday, March 31. Tiger Fest is scheduled for April 10-15.

 

RPAR softball leagues games to begin April 25

Fresh cut grass, lined infield, ring of a bat, a diving catch, sweating, bleeding, and diving into home.

Not a bad way to spend an evening out at the Ruston Parks and Recreation softball fields.

RPAR softball games begin Monday, April 25 The divisions are Coed, Men’s E, Men’s Church and Coed Church. Games are played by United States Specialty Sports Association rules.

The team fee of $305 is due Wednesday, April 20.

Extensions of Excellence Performing Arts Inc. to present ‘Dance His High Praise 9’

Extensions of Excellence Performing Arts Inc. will present Dance His High Praise 9 featuring the Orchesis Dance Company from Grambling State University.  Other performances will be done by Christian Dance Center, and Louisiana Dance Theater both of Shreveport, LA.  This spiritual ballet is under the direction of Diane Maroney-Grigsby.  This is the ninth year that the Orchesis dance Company will be presented at the Historic Strand Theater in Shreveport, LA. The recital will be April 30, 2016 at 7:00 P.M.  Admission is $20.00.  You may reserve your ticket by calling the Strand Theater box office at (318) 226-8555.  This year the dance Company will be paying tribute to the late Mrs. Doris Mott Robinson, who was the wife of legendary Coach Eddie Robinson.  Once again Extensions of Excellence Performing Arts Inc. will award a two thousand dollar scholarship to a deserving high school student to minor in the arts with a concentration in dance to attend Grambling State University.  The scholarship is named in memory of Helen Horton who was a 1959 graduate of Grambling State University
