Nursing grads excel on national exam

Grambling State University students once again show their success in the School of Nursing.

In May, the master of science in nursing degree national final exam was given to graduate nursing students. GSU showed excellence by earning a 100 percent passing rate for the 30 students who took the MSN national test.

The exam allows the current graduate students to further advance their nursing career. This allows the students to receive licenses through the Louisiana State Board of Nursing.

The MSN program also graduated the largest class in its history with 26 family nurse practitioners and four pediatric nurse practitioners.

According to Dr.  Danita Potter, head of the nursing program, the success of the graduate students can be attributed to the support and dedication of everyone in the School of Nursing.

“I believe the attribution of the passing rate is the constant support that we all have for one another and the teaching delivery that the professors have,” said Potter.

Students have worked hard throughout the program and the results are shown by the exam, which is taken every May.

“Grambling State University is above the national criteria for the passing rate,” said Potter. “This outcome indicator speaks volumes to the amount of work the students put into their learning experiences and the nursing faculty are commended for delivering an effective program.”

The nursing program faculty members are Louisiana State Board-certified advanced practice nurses with earned doctorates in the medical field.
