“Anything to get pretty we have it here at Pretty” is the slogan used by the new hair supply store “Pretty Beauty Supply” located on 309 Main Street in between Realitees and Heavenly Hands Barbershop.
This store was opened by former Gramblinite Hanniyyah Castro to help provide a service for the Grambling students. Many students here on campus do not have cars and it is challenging female student to receive all the hair products that they need to satisfy there needs.
Castro is the current owner of Pretty Beauty Supply, Zalika Muslim who is her longtime child hood friend and Louisiana Tech student Ekaete Essien helps Castro run the store.
“I remember being a student here, one who didn’t drive and it being a hassle to get hair products. When I found there till wasn’t a hair store here I had to help the students and open a supply store on campus,” said Castro.
Pretty Beauty Supply opened their doors Sept. 11 and Castro plans on making the big grand opening during GSU homecoming. Grambling is the second location for Pretty Beauty Supply. The first location is based in Austin, Texas.
“I first moved to Austin from Shreveport and I decided to open up a hair store, once I saw how well the business was doing I decided to bring it back to my alma mater,” said Castro.
Pretty beauty Supply has a variety of products such as “Beyonce’s lace front wigs, weave, 100 percent human hair, and much more.
The prices are very reasonable and the store makes sure the products are affordable for the students.
“We understand most of our customers are students therefore we want to make our prices are fitting to the students. Our prices are lower than our competitors,” said Essien.
Pretty Beauty Supply is currently working on opening a second addition to the brand new store.
“We are planning on opening up a boutique so not only can the students shop for new hair but also we will sell clothing products as well,” Said Muslim.
The new store has future plans of expanding to more locations as well.
“Once I rehabilitate my Austin store I definitely will be looking into other locations as long as there is a need and the demographics are favorable,” said Castro.
Pretty Beauty Supply is happy to provide services for the Grambling students and it will benefit the female students to satisfy their needs for the stylish look she desires.
