NAUW officials attend conference

Several members of the Grambling Branch of the National Association of University Women (NAUW) attended the South Central Sectional Planning and Training session in Alexandria on Friday, Oct. 2 and Saturday, Oct. 3. The members attending the sessions were Sadie Ludley, president, Mildred Hill, first vice-president, Grace Tatem, secretary and NAUW member, Maxine Anders.
In keeping with the planning and training section, the group met at their regular monthly meeting on Monday, Oct. 5 to develop the calendar for the year. The organization’s meetings are held on the first Monday of the month at noon in Emma Wilson’s home.

The organization focus will be on youth, health care issues and the senior citizens in Lincoln Parish. The projects for the month of October were to support the Breast Cancer Awareness program by sponsoring one of the contestants in the “Beauty and the Breast” pageant and “Make a Difference Day” by distributing toiletries to the residents in a nursing home in Ruston.

The NAUW is a civic organization that is open to any woman who is a graduate of an accredited college or university. For additional information, please feel free to contact the Ludley at 318-247-6556 or Dr. Tatem 318-247-8449.
