Homecoming: A week to remember

Homecoming can mean many different things depending on the person you're asking.

“Homecoming to me means the concept of the spirit and pride we feel during all the events,'' Arecia Celestin, a freshman currently enrolled at Gram majoring in Biology, said about the meaning of homecoming.

Unfortunately, Grambling State didn't get to have a homecoming due to Covid restrictions last year but this year it's going to be completely different.

From October 10-17, the campus will be jam packed full of activities.

Gramfam is going to love it.

The theme for this year is “Unapologetically Black.” Being unapologetically black means not worrying about what other people think. It means loving yourself and your people because some others won't.

Grambling’s big win against Alabama A&M at home on Oct. 2 this year is going to bring the energy that will flow into the week after.

A talent show will be one of the events happening so students can show off their talents such as singing, dancing, rapping, etc.

Gramfam will definitely show up and show out for that.

All organizations on campus should start practicing now because there will be a stroll off. Alphas, nupes, sigmas and especially the ques better be ready to put on a show if they want to be crowned the hardest steppers on campus.

One of the biggest events Gram will be having is a community day on October 15th from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The day will include student and alumni vendors, different types of food trucks, DJs on the 1s and 2s all day and of course a pep rally. The entire campus will be radiating amazing and positive energy.

The main event, some would call it, is the homecoming game. This year Gram will be playing  the Texas Southern University Tigers.

This game will be one of the most exhilarating events the entire week. Be prepared for the alumni of Gram to be cheering the loudest.

Homecoming week is something you'll never forget, especially if it's your first time experiencing it.

There's nothing like homecoming at a HBCU and in this case it's Grams homecoming meaning you're surely going to have a great time.
