Former GSU defensive coordinator Todd Bowles wins Super Bowl

Former Grambling State defensive coordinator Todd Bowles has captured his first coaching Super Bowl ring with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Bowles is the defensive coordinator with the Bucs having joined the team in 2019 after being the New York Jets head coach for four seasons.

Bowles was the defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach at Grambling from 1998 to 1999. He worked under then head coach Doug Williams. They both were teammates back for multiple seasons in the NFL, winning a Super Bowl together in 1988. GSU was Bowles last college coaching position before he moved on to the NFL.

Bowles continued his way up the coaching ranks to where he is today as a Super Bowl champion coach. His game plan that pressured Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes without blitzing prevented the Chiefs from scoring a touchdown.

Today, many Grambling State fans congratulate Bowles on the win and also salute him for his time spent at the university.
