Office of Career Services kicks off a very busy year

The Office of Career Services at Grambling State University has two major events to benefit students happening in the next couple of weeks, including a major career fair on Feb. 18.

Recognizing that interviews for jobs and internships start with the visual impression a student makes, Career Services has partnered with JCPenney to offer business attire at a reduced rate. The “Suit-Up Event” will be held 6:30 p.m.-9:30 p.m. Sunday at JCPenney in Pecanland Mall, 4761 Pecanland Mall Drive in Monroe.

Students can get up to 60 percent off on select men’s and women’s career dress apparel, shoes and accessories. Suit-Up coupons are available at the event. Student ID is required.

The 2020 Spring Graduate and Professional School Career Expo is scheduled for 1 p.m.-5 p.m. Feb. 18 in the Fredrick C. Hobdy Assembly Center.

All students are invited to attend, but they must dress professionally and bring copies of their rèsumès to gain admittance.

Also through the Office of Career Services, Cisco is recruiting students to participate in its Ascent Mentorship Pilot Program. Students applying must have a minimum of 3.0 GPA, strong communication skills and curiosity about technology.

The mentorship program is designed to help students of any major who have an interest in working for a technology company. It runs from Feb. 20 through April 20.
