On Saturday, Oct. 12, citizens of Lincoln Parish voted in the primary elections.
Democratic incumbent Hazel Hunter beat out Russell “Rusty” Stroizer for police juror over District 2, which covers the campus of Grambling State University.
In the Lincoln Parish sheriff’s race, Stephen Williams beat out George Webb and Randal Hermes with 51 percent of the vote.
Incumbent Linda Cook remains Clerk of Court for Lincoln Parish, beating out Troy Hughes with 85 percent of the votes.
In the Justice of the Peace Ward 2 Constable race, Bobby Washington won with 66 percent of the vote.
In the Lincoln Parish Accessor race, Billy McBride won with 62 percent of the vote.
Patrick Jefferson retained his seat as the representative for District 11.
Democratic incumbent Jay Luneau retained his senate seat with 61.5 percent of the vote for District 29, beating out Republican Randy Wiggins.
The following results for other Lincoln Parish’s Police Jury races include:
In District 1, Theresa Wyatt and Daphne Gallot-Knighten are headed for a run-off.
In District 3, Nick McCullin and Marvin Franks, Jr. are headed for a run-off.
In District 4, Randy Roberson and T.J. Cranford are headed for a run-off.
In District 5, Logan Hunt and Brandon Miller are headed for a run-off.
In Districts 6 and 12, Glenn Scriber and Sharyon Mayfield, respectively, won unopposed.
In District 7, Republican incumbent Matt Pullin beat out Tim Babcock with 62 percent of the vote.
In District 8, Republican incumbent Skip Russell beat out Rick Hohlt with 77 percent of the vote.
In District 10, Milton Melton beat out incumbent Nancy Wilson with 60 percent of the vote.
In District 12, Democratic incumbent Annette Straughter beat out Roosevelt Strong with 72 percent of the vote.
Incumbent Louisiana Democratic Gov. John Bel Edwards is headed for a runoff election against Republican businessman Eddie Rispone. Run-off elections will be held on Saturday, Nov. 16.
