The GSU cross country team participated in their second meet of the season with momentum from the last meet’s success.
Held in Ruston, the Louisiana Tech Mook Invitational saw the Tigers compete and come close in competition.
Grambling State University’s Fred Chepyegon won his second meet of the season with a victory against a loaded field in the four-mile run at the annual Mook Four held at LA Tech Farm.
He blazed the finish line with a time of 20:25.5. With his teammate Aaron Koech, the team only just missed the podium.
They placed fourth overall in the men’s competition, finishing behind Jackson State University in third, University of Louisiana Monroe in second, and Louisiana Tech taking the first place trophy in the invitational.
On the Lady Tiger’s side, Naomi Kiprop took fourth in the 4000m, finishing at 15:29.4.
The group came in overall fifth with 87 points, finishing behind Louisiana Monroe in their 83-point effort.
The host Louisiana Tech finished third with 79 points falling just short to second place finisher Northwestern state by only two points (77).
SWAC rivals Jackson State dominated the field with a strong 37-point showing, as they placed first overall.
