Career Services Update

Grambling State University’s Office of Career Services has joined Handshake, the leading career platform used at over 400 schools by more than 200,000 employers.

Handshake is the university’s newest recruiting platform that allows students and alumni to request services, view resources, explore careers, learn about career events, view employment postings, apply for jobs and schedule interviews with the Office of Career Services and employers.

The system further allows employers to post full-time and part-time positions, internships, and experiential learning opportunities.

Employers can view and use a chat feature to directly connect with students and alumni with profiles. Employers also utilize this system to register for career fairs and events, request on-campus visits and interviews, and pre-schedule interviews with students.

This platform works similar to LinkedIn, the professional networking site. Students can build profiles highlighting their academic accomplishments, skills and extracurricular activities, and make their profile visible to companies on Handshake that have connected with Grambling State University’s network.

Handshake also serves as the new one-stop shop for resources for job boards, self-assessments, mock interview resources and more.

To register, log on to https://gram.joinhandshake.com/login and register with a Grambling State University email address.

Clothes Closet still available

The Office of Career Services has been operating a Clothes Closet for participating Career Service students.  The clothes are for those students who do not have the proper attire for interviews.

The clothes are slightly used items donated by the community. Students simply submit an approved resume and come shop.

The Office of Career Services is located in Jacob T. Stewart, Room 130.
