As the crowd goes wild for her in the stands on Saturday’s football nights, Haley Comeaux makes her way into a new business venture while using her artistic talents to brighten and customize shoes for students on Grambling’s campus.
Comeaux, a 19-year-old senior majoring in music education from Baldwin, Louisiana, plays in the Grambling State University World Famed Tiger Marching Band. She is also the current president of Tau Beta Sigma National Honorary Sorority and also a sister of the Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc.
Comeaux is taking her love for arts of all types into a new spectrum by bringing a custom look to shoes.
She started her business Frontline Customs last semester. Frontline Customs specializes in shoe restoration and custom colors and designs.
She has done things such as bringing shoes back from being old and dirty to new and clean.
Comeaux has also taken a shoe and made it into a totally different design within hours.
“I’ve been wanting to do something like this since I enjoy painting and drawing, so this came easy,” Comeaux said. “I honestly just brought the products and did a lot of researching and started the journey for customizing shoes.”
Comeaux juggles all this around her busy, demanding schedule.
“I really take commissions and requests as they come. They can direct message and tell me what they want, and I give them a price,” Comeaux said.
Earnest Bland, a junior majoring in mechanical engineering, has gotten his dance shoes serviced by Comeaux and said he was pleased with her service.
“I trusted her so much that I told her to freestyle what she wanted to do with them, and I was very pleased with them,” Bland said. “The colors of the shoes was inspired by a Tiffany and Co. jewelry box. The quality is good with the color of the shoes still look the same, but the service was great and I got them in a time frame that I can work with.”
Being in several organizations and running a business, Comeaux is striving to be at the top in everything she does.
This business venture is one of her more personal and prized possessions.
Comeaux is just another example of the many multi-talented people in Grambling and how one person can do more than one thing in the university community.
