Track competes at LSU Bayou Bengal Invitational

The Grambling State men’s and women’s indoor track teams competed Friday, Feb. 1 at the LSU Bayou Bengal Invitational.

 

Fredrick Green placed fourth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.85. 

 

His time was .21 tenths short of the winner, Babakarr Randall of Hinds Community College.

 

In the 400-meter, Evan Chambers placed 29th (55.39) and Albert Cain placed 34th (1:02.69).

 

Hassan Chepkwony placed 11th with a time of 4:40.44, in the 1-mile run. 

 

Aaron Koech claimed the 14th spot finishing at 4:45.34, while teammates Hillary Kiprop, Noah Rugut and Bryson Bradford finished 19th, 20th and 25th, respectively.

 

Chepkwony finished fourth, in the 3,000 meter run at 9:12.76, seven seconds short of the winner.

 

Kolyn Salzman. Aaron Koech claimed 12th (9:33.42), Hillary Kiprop 17th (9:39.61), and Noah Rugut 18th (9:40.20).

 

In the long jump, Rudolph Valentine finished 10th, with a jump of 6.63 meters, with Roderick Atkinson placing 14th with 5.9 meters. 

 

Nicholas LaGarde finished 12th with 10.36 meters in the shot put. 

 

In the 200 meter for the women, Chloe Robinson placed seventh, with a time of 26.12, while Danya Sterling placed 14th at 27.02 and Serena Jimerson finished 22nd with 29.00. 

 

In the 800 meter, Angelica Brown claimed 19th at 2:35.98, with Marissa Stove finishing 24th with 2:40.88.

 

Naomi Kiprop placed eighth in the 1-mile run at 5:33.46 and Priscilla Kibet took the 17th spot at 5:51.55.

 

In the 3,000-meter run, Kiprop placed seventh at 11:19.06 while Priscilla Kibet and Winny Chirchir finished ninth and 10th, respectively, at 11:46.14 and 12:02.63. 

 

The 4×400 meter relay team of Angelica Brown, Daniesha Curry, Chloe Robinson and Marissa Stove finished seventh at 4:10.69. 

 

Victoria Walter finished eighth in the long jump, with a leap of 5.23 meters, while Aliyah Campbell placed 13th at 4.97 meters.

 

In the shot put, Darnese Woods took seventh at 12.35 meters and Mia Jackson was 12th at 8.34 meters. 

 

Aneisha Bell finished 10th in the weight throw, at 14.61 meters and Tatyana Guidry was 12th at 13.61 meters. Both teams conclude the indoor season at the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Indoor Track and Field Championships Feb. 14-15 at the Birmingham Crossplex in Birmingham, Alabama.
