GSU takes sixth at FAMU Rattlers Invitational

The Grambling State University women’s bowling team picked up three victories and finished sixth at the FAMU Rattler Invitational over the weekend.

 

Grambling State, which won the first two rounds of bracket play on Sunday for the first time in a decade and finished in the highest (sixth place) in tournament play in over 10  years. 

 

GSU got victories over Alabama A&M and Bethune- Cookman to claim the sixth spot.

 

Against Alabama A&M in traditional play, Grambling State captured the match, 672-668. 

 

Ariel Henderson who averaged 144.2 in five traditional matches, led the way with a 163.

 

Kayra Carter and Jennifer Pickens registered 138 and 135, respectively.

 

The Lady Tigers opened bracket play on Sunday and edged Alabama A&M, 4-3, and defeatedBethune-Cookman, 4-2. 

 

Grambling State fell short in the fifth place match to Flordia A&M, 4-0.

 

For the weekend, Khalila Onojeta paced Grambling State with 722 total pins and a 144.4 average pinfall.

 

Grambling State returns to the lanes Feb. 15-17 at the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) East Round-up in D’iberville, Miss.
