The Pinkie C. Wilkerson Life Development Center Inc. (PCWLDC) donated books to Prez Rick’s Kids Zone.
The Prez Rick’s Kids Zone is the brainchild of Grambling President Richard J. Gallot, and is a collaboration between the Departments of Athletics and Family and Consumer Sciences at the University. The Kids Zone is open to all children, two hours prior to each home game. Students from The Department of Family and Consumer Sciences classes work the Kid’s Zone.
“The donated books are a part of honoring the late Honorable Pinkie C. Wilkerson’s life of outreach and commitment, and as an extension of Dr. Dorothy Alexander’s “Read Me a Story Program, designed to promote literacy among young children in our community,” Dr. Delores Wilkerson Smith, president, of the Pinkie C. Wilkerson Life Development Center, said.
Representative Pinkie C. Wilkerson, a GSU Alum and the former Louisiana State Representative, and the late Dr. Dorothy Alexander, a former GSU faculty member were affiliated with Grambling State University and always promoted literacy.
