GRAMBLING, La.| The Grambling State University Lady Tigers volleyball team suffered a 3-1 loss against the Texas Southern Tigers. Talicia Lang led the Tigers on the night with 12 kills on 30 attack. Lang also completed the double-double adding 14 digs. Kevreion Ward added to the Tigers score card .219 hitting percentage with 11 kills on 32 attacks.
L’Muriell Thrower was able to produce a team-high 28 assists, while Sheila Borders added 15 more on the night. Kabria Dame came in with 14 digs to lead the defense. Thrower and Teryn Phillips added 11 and 10 digs, respectively.
Texas Southern Tigers were led by Eboni Mitchell, with 18 kills, while Kirby Anderson recorded 12, Jada Hall chipped in 11 kills on the night. Breyanna York led TSU with a match-high 42 assists, while defensively Jordan Brown led the defense with 12 digs.
Overall, GSU finished with 50 kills, 27 errors, 156 attacks with a (.147 hitting percentage) while recording 63 digs and 48 assists on the night.
Texas Southern hit (.229%) with (61 kills, 25 errors, 157 attacks), while registering 63 digs, 60 assist and four service aces.
The Lady Tigers will travel to Baton Rouge, Louisiana to face conference rival Southern University October, 4th start time set for 5 p.m.
