1-0 lifts Howard past Lady Tigers soccer team

WASHINGTON, D. C.| The Grambling State Lady Tigers Soccer team came up short 1-0 in a close battle to Howard University Friday night.

The Lady Tigers held the Bison’s (3-6-1 overall, and (1-1-1) in SWAC play to a scoreless first half before giving up an 25 yard goal from the Bison’s Makela Davidson in the 60th minute.

Grambling State (5-7, 2-1) came out aggressive with eight shots coming in the opening frame.

The Lady Tigers led the game in shots with 15 compared to just 11 from the Bison’s but was unable to find the back of the net on the night.

The Lady Tigers were led in shots with four by freshmen midfielder Alyssa Ozuna.

Junior goalkeeper Hanna Johnson added four saves in 90 minutes of action on the night.

The defeat snapped the Lady Tigers two game winning streak after posting two consecutive shutouts against Mississippi Valley State and Alcorn State University.  

Grambling State Lady Soccer returns to the field Friday, October 5, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana with a match-up against Southern University at 5:00 p.m.
