Favrot Student Union Board announces upcoming activities

Upcoming activities sponsored by the Favrot Student Union Board:

A student spectator bus will travel to Jackson State University on Saturday, Jan. 23. Students must be a registered GSU student with no judicial record within the past year. The transportation is free and the ticket cost is $10 (must purchase at Jackson State). Students may sign up in office 215 in the Favrot Student Union. Bring a valid student I.D. The deadline is Jan. 20 or until space is filled.

TigerFest Talent Show auditions is set for Feb. 15-16 at 7 p.m. in T.H. Harris Auditorium. For more information contact Khadijah Freeman at khadijah_34@yahoo.com.

College of Education to sponsor ‘Praxis Powerhouse Week’

The Grambling State University College of Education will sponsor “Praxis Powerhouse Week” for any student needing help to pass the Praxis exam. The activities will be held in Charles P. Adams Hall at 5 p.m. Jan. 25-28 in Room 216 and Jan. 29 from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m. A registration Round Robin will be held in the Care Center, Room One. 

Assistance with Praxis registration, fee waivers and plato support will be available. Dr. Dennis Williams will talk about Test Taking Strategies on Monday, and Math Strategies will be discussed by Eugene Taylor on Tuesday. Wednesday, Dr. Loretta Jaggers and Dr. Elaine Foster will speak on Reading Strategies, and Dr. Doris Williams-Smith will teach Writing Strategies on Thursday, while Dr. Kathyrn Newman will discuss Praxis II.

Wellness Resource Center to sponsor Faculty, Staff Spa Day

The Grambling State University Student Counseling and Wellness Resource Center will sponsor Faculty and Staff Spa Day today from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. The center is located in the Foster Johnson Center (West Wing).

The center is starting 2016 by setting health goals. A meeting will be held Tuesday, Jan. 19 at 11:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Stop by the Tiger Den in the Favrot Student Union for resources to help stay on track. 

Women’s Fellowship Ministry presents ‘A Valentine Gala’

    Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church located on 2586 Martin Luther King, Jr. Ave. in Grambling will have a dinner and theatrical presentation on Friday, Feb. 12 at 6:00 p.m.         

    Tickets are $25 per person, for adults only. The attire is semi-formal or formal only. The deadline to purchase tickets is Feb. 5 and tickets will be required for admission. Modeling troupe to hold tryouts

     Strut LA will be conducting tryouts on Thursday, Jan. 28 from 6-8 p.m. in Room 242 of the Student Union. Potential members are asked to where a white shirt with blue jeans- ladies (little to no makeup with hair pulled back and three-inch heels or higher. No wedges or blocked heels).
