City Christmas Parade set for December 12

The Annual Grambling Christmas Parade will be held Saturday, Dec. 12. Area churches, schools, bands, businesses, clubs, scouts, ROTC groups and organizations are invited to participate by contacting Nelda Williams Baisy, Grambling Joy Fund committee chairperson at 247-6912 or 548-6922 or Charles Young, Parade Chairperson at 247-3730. 

The parade is scheduled to line up at New Rocky Valley Baptist Church, 2155 Martin Luther King Avenue, Grambling, Louisiana at 10 a.m. and will begin promptly at 11 a.m. The parade will move East on Martin Luther King Avenue; take a right turn on Main Street at the Christian Center; move through the business area and Grambling State University; take a left at the Catholic Center; and end at the Grambling Community Center located behind the Fire Station on Stadium View Drive.

Santa will pass out treats to children and all parade goers will be treated with a Christmas Cheer bag of fruit and candy.

Retired school teacher and Grambling State University graduate Hazel Douglas is the Parade Grand Marshal.

The theme of the parade is “Joy and Peace to the World”. 

Parade participants are asked to use the theme on their car, truck, van or any other vehicle entered in the parade. There is no participation fee.

The Grambling Joy Fund Committee Members will be canvassing the community soliciting donations.   

The public is encouraged to arrive early to get a good spot to view the parade.
