Favrot Student Union Board releases upcoming activities

The Favrot Student Union Board will wrap up October events with a Halloween Haunted House/Costume Party

in the Student Union Atrium tonight at 6.

Events coming up in November will be a Scavenger Hunt/Amazing Race on the Yard Nov. 2 at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5 a Spa Night in Room 242  of the union at 6 p.m. and Friday will be Outside Movie Night at Douglass Hall Courtyard at 7 p.m.

A Student Spectator Bus will be provided for the UAPB game Nov. 14 – Pine Bluff, Arkansas at a cost of $35 and the deadline to pay and/or request a refund is Nov. 10. The price includes ticket and transportation. 

A Student Spectator Bus will be provided for the Bayou Classic game Nov. 27-29 – New Orleans at a cost of $225 which includes transportation, game & battle of the bands, & 2 night hotel stay and the deadline to pay and/or request a refund is Nov. 12.

No refunds after deadline. If paying with cash, credit/debit you must pay at the Cashier’s window located in Long-Jones Hall. If paying with G-Flex, you must pay at the Tiger 1 Card office located in Long-Jones Hall. You must be a registered student with no judicial record within the past year.

 

Grambling State’s Career Services office to hold November sessions

The Office of Career Services will hold Diversity – What It Means for Me session in Grambling Hall Auditorium Monday, Nov. 2 at 7-8 p.m.

The office will hold an Internship Fair co-sponsored with the Sophomore class from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5 in the Black and Gold Room of the Favrot Student Union.

Red River Classic Gala to honor Grambling State Univ. president 

The Grambling University Foundation will present the Red River Classic honoring GSU president Dr. Willie D. Larkin. The gala will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6 at the Shreveport convention center.

The evening will include dinner, dancing and award presentations. The music for the evening will be provided by the Shreveport Regional Jazz ensemble.  Tickets are $125 which may be purchased through payroll deduction or available by contacting the Office of Advancement, Research and Economic Development at (318) 274-2217.

 

Rising Junior Examination to continue until Thursday, Nov. 5

The Rising junior examination  proctored online test will continue to be given from Monday, Nov. 2- through Nov. 5.  The test will be administrated in Charles P. Adams, Room 322.

Requirements before sitting for the exam includesbeening registered in GET 300 via the registrars office. You can schedule to take the exam by logging on banner web and bring the following items a current valid official photo ID pencils optional four function non-graphing calculator. Cell phones/electronic devices must be turned off and put out of sight until after leaving out of the testing site, personal belonging should be placed under the desk, no wearing head gear males and females during the exam unless for religious purposes, and no food and beverages are allowed in testing sites you will be dismissed from the siteif there are any infractions.

Grambling Alumni chapter to hold fish plate sale on Saturday, Oct. 31

The Grambling Alumni Chapter Fish Fry will be held on Saturday, Oct. 31 at the Grambling Community Center. The activity will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. 

The price of the plates is $8. Please contact chapter members for tickets.

 

Professional development to host career fair in Black and Gold Room

The Grambling State University Personal and Professional Development will host the Graduate and Professional Studies Career Fair Friday, Oct. 30 in the Black and Gold Room of the Favrot Student Union. The fair will begin at 9 a.m. and end at 2 p.m.

 Participants attending the fair must be dressed in professional business attire.

 

Catch a ride with the Monroe Tigers to see Catfight in Dome

Let’s go see the Grambling State University Tigers take on the Southern Jaguars in the Louisiana Superdome during the Annual Bayou Classic, Saturday, Nov. 28.  There will be a bus leaving the day of the game from the Pecanland Mall in Monroe (Olive Garden Restaurant area) at 6 a.m.  

The bus will arrive in New Orleans around 11:45 a.m. and game time is 4 p.m.  The bus will depart for Monroe after the game.  

The cost of the trip is $95 (game ticket included) or $65 (game ticket not included).   The deadline for payment is Sunday, Nov. 22.  There will be no refunds (Unless trip is cancelled).  Refreshments will be served and door prizes will be given away.

GSU students can apply for Alice Brooks Memorial Scholarship 

Grambling State University students may apply for the Alice Brooks Memorial Book Scholarship to be awarded for the Spring 2016 semester.

The two $500 book scholarships will be awarded to a sophomore, junior, or senior at GSU. The book award is to be used at the Grambling State bookstore.

The Office of Alumni Relations is looking for the Class of 1966. In May of 2016, the Class of 1966 will celebrate their 50th anniversary class reunion! The office is gathering contact information for all 1966 graduates.

Residential Life holds Domestic Abuse, Sexual Assault on Wednesday, Nov. 4

The Department of Residential Life is inviting  the student body, Faculty and staff to a presentation  that will focus on Domestic Abuse and Sexual Assault.  The dynamic and informed  presenter  Petrina L. Jenkins is a graduate of Grambling State University. 

Jenkins  has been a Domestic Violence Advocate in the Caddo/Bossier and surrounding communities for over 17 years. The presentation will held on Wednesday Nov. 4 at 6 p.m. in Grambling Hall Auditorium.
