Kittens support Breast Cancer Awareness

During the week of October 5-9 Grambling High School participated in several events to raise breast cancer awareness.

Grambling High School’s 4-H, Student Council, and FBLA Club partnered with Grambling State University for their Breast Cancer Awareness Balloon Release.  The event was led by Grambling Lab alum, Adarian Williams.

Grambling High School students also raised money during the week by collecting donations in pink containers in each homeroom. This year the service project focused on helping local families by partnering with the “Wiggin Out” Organization that provides wigs, appropriate headwear, and lymphatic garments to current and former cancer patients throughout the I-20 corridor in North Louisiana.

The goal was to help ease the financial and psychological burden and strain for individuals fighting cancer.  The Student Council sold pink lemonade and pink cupcakes at lunch, each homeroom contributed loose change, and students were allowed to pay $2 to wear jeans and a pink shirt and raised over $300 this year.

The GHS officials and club members recognized the following students who supported this fundraiser:  La’Asia Atkins, Kenyetta Bilberry, William Brewster, Taylor Brim, Justice Cage, Undrio Cheffin, TiKaya Cooke, Yasmine Cooke, Tylan Dean, Joseph Evans, Staneshia Ferrel, Serena Ford, Megan Gainous, Morgan Gainous, Keionne Gilliam, Kierra Griggs, Aaron Hill, Kyrah Hill, Emerion Holland, Delyncia Horsley, Diamond Loyd, Rochelle Mitchelle, Abigail Morris, Sean Morris, Raegan Nation, Kerrigan Nute, Devin Page, Makayla Parker, Alexia Perkins, Aujani Richburg, Timyreon Roberson, Aujaney Simmons, Destiny West, Evan Canty, Tiaron Ford, and Anochia Mayfield.
