Homecoming wraps up

Grambling State University Laboratory High School’s Homecoming celebration of activities will conclude tonight with the game and dance. The Kittens will battle the Homer Pelicans in the Eddie G. Robinson Stadium.

During the school day, Grambling High School hosted a pep rally for the football team followed by a homecoming parade. There will be a presentation of the Royal Court at half-time of the football game.

After the game, the Grambling High School Student Council will host “The Last Kitten” Homecoming Dance in the Grambling High Gym.  

The Coronation of Miss Grambling High School, Kyrah Michel Hill, was held on Thursday, Oct. 15 at the T. H. Harris Auditorium.  

The theme of the 2015-2016 Homecoming is “A Night in the Museum: Finding the Mona Lisa.”  

Hill is the 17 year old daughter of Alfred and Virginia Hill.  She was born in Ruston and now resides in Farmerville, Louisiana.  

Hill is a member of the 4-H Club, the Future Business Leaders of America, the Grambling High Student Council, the Dynamic DuMaine Dance Line, and the Lady Kittens Softball Team.  She attends the Fellowship Baptist Church where her father is pastor, and she participates in the church choir.  

The queen’s motto is “A flower does not think of competing with the flower next to it, it just blooms.”

Members of the Grambling High School Royal Court are Miss Senior, Raegan Nation; Miss Junior, Tiaron Ford; Miss Sophomore, Ke’Rodjany Goldsmith; and Miss Freshmen, Diamond Loyd.

Other members of the Royal Court were Mr. and Miss Alma J. Brown, Jaidyn S. Page and Trinity Page; Mr. and Miss Grambling Middle School, Mareo Riley, Jr. and Ki Deloney; Mr. and Miss Eighth Grade, Federico Davis, Jr. and Nykeria Mims; and Mr. and Miss Seventh Grade, Logan Reese and Haley Albritton. 

Club and Organizational Queens were also named to the court.  Tamia Watson served as Miss Band, Kierra Griggs served as Miss Basketball, La’Asia Atkins served as Miss Cheerleader, Morgan Gainous served as Miss Dynamic DuMaine Dancer, Shemire’ Brown served as Miss 4-H, Mercedes Swift served as Miss Future Business Leaders of America, Azzie McKinsey served as Miss Softball, Precious Bradley served as Miss Track, and Miss Football Sweetheart was Dianjanee’ Thompson.
