Grambling State communication office releases Homecoming tips

The Grambling State University office of media relations and communications released tips during Homecoming activities. 

The Eddie G. Robinson Stadium will open on Saturday at 12 p.m. and the kickoff time is set for 2 p.m. as the Grambling Tigers take on the Mississippi Valley State University Delta Devils.

 GSU and  BPCC students should enter through Gate four with ID. General admission and child tickets can be purchased at Gate two on the GSU side and Gate five on the visitors side. Reserved seating tickets can be purchased at the ticket office and ticket sales will begin at 9 a.m. at Gates two through six and the ticket office.

There will be no golf carts or ATVs will be allowed due to liability issues. Grambling does not have the insurance to cover the university or individuals should an accident occur.

 

Residential Life and Housing to host run, walk event Oct. 28

The Department of Residential Life/Housing will host the second Annual Glow Run/Walk on Wednesday, Oct. 28 along with other activities.

Go Pink Week will kick off on Monday, Oct. 26 with Tree of Hope- The Department of Residential Life/Housing encourages the campus community to come to Eddie the Tiger to pin a pink or purple ribbon on the Tree of Hope in support of Breast Cancer and Domestic Violence.

Tuesday, Oct. 27 – Go Pink! – Wear pink to show your support for breast cancer awareness. Wednesday – 5K Glow Run will take place at 7:30 p.m. Sign-up will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Tiger Village Clubhouse. Thursday, Oct. 29 – Pink Out Aerobics in conjunction with the Intramural Center at 5:15 p.m.

The department invites the campus community to come out and support Breast Cancer Awareness. Interested participants can sign up by sending an Email to gsuhousing@gram.edu. The first 50 participants will receive a free Shirt and shirts will be given out at the event.

Grambling State alumni relations in search of 2015 reunion classes

During 2015 Homecoming weekend Oct. 23-24 the Office of Alumni Relations at Grambling State University has planned special events for classes to reunite and reminisce on their days at dear ole Grambling!

It’s Class Reunion time for the classes of 1975 (40 years), 1980 (35 years), 1985 (30 years), 1990 (25 years) and 1995 (20 years)! Where are they and can they make it to the GSU homecoming activities?

The office members are now soliciting a person of each class to join the Tiger Class Agent Network to assist in contacting class members.

If you are interested in assisting, please complete the application found on the alumni site: alumni.gram.edu/classagent.

The Office of Alumni Relations is also looking for the Class of 1966. In May of 2016, the Class of 1966 will celebrate their 50th anniversary class reunion! The office is gathering contact information for all 1966 graduates.

Curriculum and Instruction to sponsor Praxis workshops

The Grambling State University Department of Curriculum and Instruction will sponsor two Praxis Webpage workshops. The workshops will be held Oct. 26-27 in Charles P. Adams Hall Room 219.

 The workshops will began at 9 a.m. on Monday and Tuesday at 10 a.m. There will be information dealing with Praxis I and II.

To be eligible to apply, you must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher and the due date is Wednesday, Dec. 2 by 5 p.m. Central Standard Time.

Professional development to host career fair in Black and Gold Room

The Grambling State University Personal and Professional Development will host the Graduate and Professional Studies Career Fair Friday, Oct. 30 in the Black and Gold Room of the Favrot Student Union. The fair will begin at 9 a.m. and end at 2 p.m.

 Participants attending the fair must be dressed in professional business attire.

 

Catch a ride with the Monroe Tigers to see Catfight in Dome

Let’s go see the Grambling State University Tigers take on the Southern Jaguars in the Louisiana Superdome during the Annual Bayou Classic, Saturday, Nov. 28.  There will be a bus leaving the day of the game from the Pecanland Mall in Monroe (Olive Garden Restaurant area) at 6 a.m.  

The bus will arrive in New Orleans around 11:45 a.m. and game time is 4 p.m.  The bus will depart for Monroe after the game.  

The cost of the trip is $95 (game ticket included) or $65 (game ticket not included).   The deadline for payment is Sunday, Nov. 22.  There will be no refunds (Unless trip is cancelled).  Refreshments will be served and door prizes will be given away.

GSU Political Science Department extends invitation to join group

For those interested in wanting to be a lawyer or become involved in Black politics, come and join the Political Science Association of Grambling State University. The next meeting is set for Oct. 29 at noon in Woodson Hall  Room 132.

If your major is political science, you are welcome to come and if not still welcome and join this powerful association.

GSU students can apply for Alice Brooks Memorial Scholarship 

Grambling State University students may apply for the Alice Brooks Memorial Book Scholarship to be awarded for the Spring 2016 semester.

The two $500 book scholarships will be awarded to a sophomore, junior, or senior at GSU. The book award is to be used at the Grambling State bookstore.
