Is social media a benefit or hurt to us?

Social media benefits us because technology has completely upgraded in today’s time and people can now communicate in the fast way. You no longer really have to sit at a computer to use social media you can use it through you telephone to communicate with others as long as you have access to Internet.

Social media has completely changed our time with all the popular websites that people are using every second all over the world like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and many more websites. There are billions of people on the plant that use social media every second.

There are 2 to 3 billion active Internet users with the percentage only be 45 to 50 Internet users. Nearly 2 billion people have social media accounts and these users have access to internet via smartphones and tablets. There are close to 1.5 billion people that have social media accounts. Facebook has nearly 1.2 billion users and 40 percent of internet users are on Facebook. Twitter has 280 million users and 80 percent of Twitter are on mobile and there are 400 to 500 million tweets per day. Instagram has 200 to 300 million users and 60 to 70 million photos and videos are sent daily and 50 percent of internet users ages 18 to 29 use Instagram. Pinterest has 70 to 75 percent of internet users that are mostly females and 60 million users are on Pinterest and 82 percent purchase a product they pinned. LinkedIn has 340 registered members and there are over 30 million students and recent college graduates on LinkedIn. As of 2015 social networks have billions of dollars from advertisements. Social media has become popular all over the world and billions of people are using every second.

Social media is good is some ways, but it also can hurt because people can use it in negative ways like children getting on these websites talking to people that they do not even know and adults posting mean comments about people. People should really be careful about how they use these websites because they can really get you in trouble and plus it can cause you to lose your job or get suspended. In a way it hurt us because there are people out there who is not going to use the websites the right way it is always going to be negative things on these websites about other people so in my opinion social hurt us not benefits us.
