Favrot Student Union Board releases upcoming activities

The Favrot Student Union Board has released several upcoming events for October. “I Stand, You Stand, We Stand” is a domestic violence event to be held in the union, Room 242 at 6 p.m. on Oct. 5.

A general assembly will be held in the Black & Gold Room at 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 6. Set for Oct. 7 Murder Mystery will be held in the Black & Gold Room at 7 p.m. On Thursday, Oct. 8, Tiger Taco and Salsa Night will begin at 6 p.m. in the Black & Gold Room, and a Beat Alabama A&M Pep Rally will kick off at 2:30 p.m. in the Men’s Gym Friday, Oct. 9.

The Union Board has released a deadline of Oct. 9 to submit Homecoming Parade applications. The parade will be held Saturday, Oct. 24 at 9 a.m.

A Student Spectator Bus will be provided for the Alcorn State game Oct. 17 – Lorman, Miss. at a cost of $35 and the deadline to pay is Oct. 13 or until filled. The price includes ticket and transportation. No refunds after deadline. If paying with cash, credit/debit you must pay at the Cashier’s window located in Long-Jones Hall. If paying with G-Flex, you must pay at the Tiger 1 Card office located in Long-Jones Hall. You must be a registered student with no judicial record within the past year.

 

Grambling State alumni relations in search of 2015 reunion classes

During 2015 Homecoming weekend Oct. 23-24 the Office of Alumni Relations at Grambling State University has planned special events for classes to reunite and reminisce on their days at dear ole Grambling!

It’s Class Reunion time for the classes of 1975 (40 years), 1980 (35 years), 1985 (30 years), 1990 (25 years) and 1995 (20 years)! Where are they and can they make it to the GSU homecoming activities?

The office members are now soliciting a person of each class to join the Tiger Class Agent Network to assist in contacting class members.

If you are interested in assisting, please complete the application found on the alumni site: alumni.gram.edu/classagent.

The Office of Alumni Relations is also looking for the Class of 1966. In May of 2016, the Class of 1966 will celebrate their 50th anniversary class reunion! The office is gathering contact information for all 1966 graduates.

Gospel Explosion 2015 event for Homecoming free for students 

The Favrot Student Union Board will sponsor the Homecoming 2015 Gospel Explosion on Sunday, Oct. 18 in the T.H. Harris Auditorium at 7 p.m. 

The 2015 Gospel Explosion will feature VaShawn Mitchell. The price for students will be free w/valid I.D., and for non-students the charge is $8.

Tickets will be sold in Student Union Office 206 in the Oct. 14 -15 from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. and Oct. 16 from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. Tickets will be sold in the T.H. Harris Auditorium Oct. 18 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Grambling Branch NAACP to host monthly meeting Tuesday

The Grambling Branch of the NAACP will hold its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 6 at 4:30 p.m. in the Grambling Community Center, 127 King St. (behind the Fire Station).  

The meeting is open to all citizens of the community.  Any questions or concerns should be addressed to the president, Flynn Ludley, (318-247-8449), or the secretary, Dr. Grace Tatem, 318-247-8449.

 

Mt. Zion Baptist Church to host annual homecoming, revival

Pastor Anthony C. Slack and the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church family of Grambling invites everyone to attend their fall revival, Monday, Oct. 12 through Thursday, Oct. 15 at 7 p.m. nightly. 

The evangelist for the revival is Pastor Ike Byrd of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Monroe.

 

Holland Grove Baptist Church to sponsor upcoming activities

The Holland Grove Baptist Church will join with the New Light M.B.C. on Sunday, Oct. 4 for the Initial sermon of Bro. Brandon Crew. The service will take place at 6 p.m. at Holland Grove B.C.

Pastor Calvin Wortham and the Holland Grove family extends an area-wide invitation. The church is located at 3105 Felts Road in Arcadia.

An all elected officials, incumbents, candidates local, parish and statewide for an evening of worship and praise. The event will be held Sunday, Oct. 11 at 5 p.m.

The guest for the event is Joshua Dara, candidate for Senate District 29 and pastor of Zion Hill B.C. in Pineville. Special appearance by Chris Tyson, candidate for secretary of state.
