‘Anti-Hazing’ event set for organizations

In recognition of National Anti-Hazing Week, the GSU Counseling Center, Office of Student Judicial Affairs and the Office of Student Clubs and Organizations has scheduled an Anti-Hazing program for Thursday, Sept. 24 in the Betty Smith Nursing Building Auditorium at 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.

The theme for the event will be Healthy and Strong Student Leaders. All organization officers, advisors and candidates (and new members, fall 2015 for membership), are required to attend.

“This is a required program for all organizations; please do not disregard the email. This program is required for all NPHC, band and music fraternities. And, if you have completed membership recruitment, new student members in the above categories are still required to attend. Organizations not in compliance will be suspended or intake will be suspended if all students in the above categories are not in attendance,” said Charlotte Favors, director of GSU student clubs and organizations.

Each organization is asked to please give an accurate number of members who plan to attend the event by Saturday, Sept. 19.

Favors said, “We are trying to provide lunch for attendees, therefore a number of participants who will attend the program will be needed as soon as possible. The number of attendees is important because we will need to confirm the numbers with the catering service.”

The number of participants submitted by each organization will determine the number of meals prepared. An organization representative may call or email Favors with an attendance number.
