Have no fear, aerobics is here!
It is practically a given that a college student living on campus will gain weight because of the food and the stress of the loads of homework each night.
But on the Grambling State campus, there is a perfect opportunity to work out if you overindulge.
If you haven’t yet had a chance to attend a workout in the Intramural Center, now is the chance because Coach Terry Lilly’s (in)famous aerobic workout program is back.
“I participated in aerobics because I enjoy working out,” said Pamela Kemp, a senior computer science major from Dallas. “It’s a great way to relieve stress from a long day and also stay in shape, especially living on campus of an all-you-can-eat caf.”
Aerobics has been on the Grambling campus from some time now. Aerobics is offered at two different times in the Intramural, starting at 5 p.m. and with another scheduled for 8 p.m.
“The 8 p.m. session is the best one that fits me because I’m usually in class all day so I’m not able to go to the 5 p.m. session,” said Kemp, who has been doing aerobics for four years. “So it gives me time to go to my dorm and relax and have dinner.”
Ending your day with one of Coach Lilly’s classes may seem a bit overwhelming, especially if you’re new to aerobics. If you give up because you got tired during one of the exercises, Lilly might make your workout just a bit more intense.
Just a little tip: Don’t let Coach Lilly catch you slacking at any time during workouts.
“Being singled out in aerobics motivates me to work harder and to finish out the workout without stopping,” said Kemp.
Monday through Thursday every week you can catch many students and faculty – even some of the people from the Grambling community – working hard to get fit and fighting through the sweat and the intense cardio that comes with Lilly’s aerobic workouts.
“Aerobics is a great program at Grambling State’s Intramural Center,” Kemp said. “I think everyone should try. It’s a lot of fun!”
Aerobics is offered in the main gym Monday-Thursday at 5 p.m. and move to the left courts of the Intramural Center for the 8 p.m. session.
Hope to see you there!
