Athletic Department to offer activities for children

This summer a host of sport programs plan to have several camps for the locals. The camps will range from youth players to high schooler.

Football

One-day football camps will be held in three different locations this year: Neville High School in Monroe  on June 26; BREC Memorial Stadium in Baton Rouge on June 29; and Tad Gormley Stadium in New Orleans on June 30.

Led by head football coach Broderick Fobbs and his coaching staff, each camp will focus on the fundamentals of the game.

The non-contact camp is designed to enrich high school football players by giving them a solid foundation of the sport.

This will allow them to excel at their position and prepare them for the next level. Each camper will receive the same attention and learn the same skills set as a Tiger would at Grambling State University’s football program.

More information on the summer camps can be found online at www.tigerfootballcamps.com or by contacting the football office at 318-274-6539.

There will be a registration fee of $25.

Tennis

Coach Kenneth Myers plans to offer a free tennis summer camp for the youth in July. The dates will be released later in the month.

For more information about the camp, please contact Myers at MyersK@gram.edu or 318-274-6210.

Volleyball

This summer there will be a three day volleyball camp offered at Grambling State University. The camp will be from July 9 – July 11 in the Men’s Memorial Gym on campus.

During the camp, campers will get to focus on passing, setting, hitting, blocking and serving. There will also be a knowledge session that will focus on learning how the game is played and players positions and role on the court.

The camp’s registration fee is $50.
