Library hosts annual week

This week kicks off National Library Week from April 12-18. Every year the librarians and staff host a week full of activities for the library staff and students for all their hard work.

The theme of the celebration this year is “Unlimited possibilities at your library.”

While this is an annual celebration unfortunately did not happen last year at Grambling State University due to an unexpected death of a faulty staff, Maraine Hall, the reference librarian.

“I truly appreciate GSU’s library staff on how they continue to promote the importance and the fundamentals of reading,” said Mariah Lowe, a  music education major. “We have the power to educate ourselves by simply opening a book and reading it. Reading is a beautiful free gift.”

National Library Week is a week of celebration to “show gratitude and appreciation to the librarians and staff for all their help and hard work with the students, other staff members and community,”  said Cecilia Iwala interim director of A.C. Lewis Memorial Library.

“I love our library and the staff that works there.,” said  Khady Camara. “I receive all the help I need every time I go to the library for homework or research. The staff in the library is passionate about their career and helping students.”

There is also a library contest for undergraduate students. The contest is a test to evaluate the knowledge of the library research resources and service skills.

For more information and requirements, please go to the A.C Memorial Library or contact Iwala at 3368 or iwalac@gram.edu.
