Alumni relocate church to Arcadia in time for Easter

Well known local place of worship The Church of the Champions has found new residence in Arcadia.

The church that was founded by two-time SWAC Championship winner, Pastor Henry Tolbert, who holds the record for most reception touchdowns in Grambling State’s history. The church has been in the area since 2010 and started out with Tolbert, his wife Latoya Tolbert, a 2004 GSU graduate, and eight other college students. The COTC has a mission to develop and to deploy confident, courageous, and consistent disciples of Jesus Christ, has impacted many students over the past five years of calling Grambling their home.

Latoya said the move to Arcadia provided the church with more space for more ministry.

"Our new location gives us room to do something we couldn’t do in Grambling," said Latoya.

Other business in the same outlet as the church, have proven to be difficult to fulfill the full vision of the church. In it’s new location with more space, the church has a mind go even further in ministry. Pastor Steven King, stated "Our goal is not to just minister in Arcadia, but to the surrounding areas as well. Our ministry saw need in Arcadia, so we’re here to meet the needs of the community."

With the church’s success here in Grambling it is nothing more than obvious to look forward to greater things in Arcadia.

"…I also want to thank President Warrick. She never allows us to forget how important our church is to her and our great university," said Pastor Tolbert. "My wife and I will never forget the lessons learned and the lives impacted in our time in Grambling."

The grand opening of their new location will be Sunday, April 5.
