GSU to launch new app

In an effort to revamp the image of the university and provide convenience to the constituents, Grambling State University created a new mobile application.

The new app is powered by Straxis Technology, a company that prides themselves in “specializes in schools, and understanding the unique needs and requirements of the education community.”

The program is speared by GSU’s media relations department as way to “market the university’s to prospective students.” The department strives to “works to promote the university both internally and in the public eye,” according to Tracey Wright, the interim director of communications and social media.

The structure of the application is to enhance the experience for students and campus visitors. Within the program includes campus news, athletics news, events, campus maps, weather, staff directory, library catalog, virtual campus tour and course catalog.

“As of now the app is complete, but we are waiting for Apple to upload it to they’re store, so it should launch in a couple of weeks,” said Elliot Jones, the media relations representative.

Jones hopes that new application will keep students, alumni and supporters constantly updated.

The Grambling app is now available for downloads.
