Empire is taking over the television

This week after American Idol, Fox premiered its new primetime show “Empire” which turned out to be the highest rated new show in three years.

The show involves money, greed, family, and hip hop music. Terrance Howard, who plays Lucious Lyon and Taraji P. Henson who plays his wife, Cookie, headline the show. Terrance Howard owns a music company and once his wife is released from jail, she comes to take back her half.

This causes tension not only between the two of them, but also between their two sons who are also involved in the music business causing them to pick sides.

After watching the first episode it is obvious that this family is about to go through a war to see which son will succeed first and who will take over the company and the millions of dollars that come with it.

The show also is exposing the ruthlessness that surrounds the music industry. Super producer Timbaland helped write the show, which is where the style of music included in the show comes from.
