The Junior Class president has a lot planned for the students of Grambling State during the spring semester. Ginia Smith plans to bring back her “G-Talk” series, along with other events.

According to Smith, the “G-Talk” is a series she devised during her sophomore year to help encourage, empower, and evolve college women; however, Smith wanted to include young men to this specific discussion.

“I really wanted to invite males to this open discussion because we want to see a male’s point of view vs. a female’s in the listed topic discussions of relationships, main purposes in college, and social life”, said Smith.

Smith’s biggest G-Talk seminar was last year’s “I focus” topic. Many students really enjoyed themselves at the event and they felt it was one of the best seminars of the semester.

“I really enjoyed this discussion because the topics were very engaging and it stirred up excitement,. said junior biology major Jay Russell. “This was a well put together event by Miss Sophomore.”

On Feb. 6 Smith will start “G-Talk” again with the topic flawless.

“It’s based off the Beyoncé song flawless and I want women to realize it’s more about your inner beauty than your outer beauty,” Smith said.

A clothing drive will also be held in mid-February and according to smith it will be held as a thrift store type setting.

“The recommended students who were qualified are the ones eligible to participate and the names will be finalized soon,” smith said.

If a student donates clothes then that student will be notified about where and when the clothes will be distributed. This is considered to be a private event.

The students who will be recommended to participate will shop for clothes at a private area and the clothes will be free of charge.
