50 years of happiness

 

Frank and Dorothy Dexter Pogue first met in 1958 when they enrolled at the SD Bishop College (then Alabama State College Mobile Branch Campus). They transferred to the senior campus, Alabama State College in Montgomery, where he graduated in 1961 and she graduated in 1962. 

They were married at Mount Olive Baptist Church #2 in Mobile, Ala., on Aug. 24, 1963. The Pogues have one child, Constance L. Pogue Williams. 

Dr. Pogue entered and received a master’s degree from Atlanta University and became dean of students at Philander Smith College. Mrs. Pogue served as assistant librarian at Philander Smith.  They entered the University of Pittsburgh, where Dr. Pogue received his Ph.D. and Mrs. Pogue received the master of library and information sciences degree. 

The Pogues live at Johnson Place, the university president’s home on campus. Their home is in New Castle, Del.
