Style report: Fall fashion trends

September is approaching and most of us are getting ready to revamp our wardrobes.

Despite the hot Louisiana weather, the season is changing, and what better way to prepare for the fall than to break down standout looks straight from the runway.

While some trends are new to the scene, most are back from the spring and summer with a vengeance! Try any of these eye-catching looks and be on-trend for the new season.

Statement Jackets

Want a simple look with a big impact? Pair a statement jacket with jeans and a solid colored blouse.  With on-trend colors and patterns, it can become an instant outfit maker perfect for the fall season.

Leather

Whether it was a pair of shorts, a skirt or a peplum top, leather seemed to be a big hit this summer. This season designers are going for the slouchy look.  Try a pair of baggy leather trousers with a denim top or blazer.

Prints (houndstooth, plaid)

Known as a more traditional choice, plaid and houndstooth will be the go-to prints this season.  Be bold and colorblock with your houndstooth prints. Wear your plaids with leather to achieve a punk-inspired look.

Black and White

This classic combo can easily be named the biggest trend of 2013. It was seen on just about every fashion blog and in every fashion magazine and department store and it’s sure makes a come back this autumn. If wearing bold stripes isn’t your thing, go with a solid black or white top with a black or white bottoms and a pop of color. Complement the look with a bright colored bag and lipstick.

A-Line Skirts

Seen in leather, plaid and floral print, this fit and flare style skirt has come a long way from its first debut by Christian Dior in the late 1950s. The A-line skirt is timeless and looks flattering on all body types. Wear your skirt with a simple button- down blouse.
