Greetings from the president

Dear Students:

It is my pleasure to welcome you, our new and returning students, to Grambling State University (GSU) for the 2012 Fall semester.  I hope that you have enjoyed a wonderful and fruitful summer and that you are ready to return to the business of your education.  This promises to be an exciting semester with many new adventures planned.

You will find this exciting news: GSU has expanded!  We now have two locations – the second campus is known as Grambling State University-West Campus Annex and is located two miles west of the main campus on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.  This property (formerly Ruston Developmental Center) was acquired through Senate Bill 583, Act 236 of the 2012 Session of the Louisiana Legislature.  We have grown to serve more students and enhance the quality of your educational experience.

Now that you have enrolled at GSU, you are a beneficiary of all that this university has to offer.  From this day forward, your life will be enriched by your connection with GSU and our reputation will, in large measure, be based on your accomplishments.

Whether you are a first-time freshman, a transfer student or a returning student, you are the lifeblood of this institution.  For this reason, all of our efforts are geared toward providing you with a quality learning experience.  We want to ensure that you are afforded an education which results in a successful and rewarding future.

Please remember my consistent message to you – the primary reason you are at GSU is to get your degree.  Do not leave here without it.  We also encourage you to have fun and enjoy the many cultural and co-curricular activities that have been planned for your enrichment and enjoyment.

Again, welcome, and enjoy the Fall semester.  I look forward to seeing you throughout the campus.

Sincerely,

Frank G. Pogue, Ph.D.
