Grambling State University to sponsor youth Summer camps
Several Summer camps will be available for youth ages seven to 12 on the Grambling State University Campus.
A Theatre Arts camp will be hosted for Session 1: June 27 – July 1 and Session 2: July 11-15.
A Culinary Arts camp will be hosted June 20 – June 24 and June 27 – July 1. A summer Science and Arts camp will be hosted on June 13 -17 and June 20 – 24. This event will take place Monday – Thursday (8 am – 4 pm) and Friday (8 am- 12 noon).
A maximum of 32 campers per session and cost $85. Each camper will be provided with lunch at MCCall Dining Hall.
A GSU summer camp T-shirt can be purchased for $8. Late pick-up available on Monday – Thursday (after 4 p.m./ before 5:10 p.m.) for an additional $20. For more information call 318-274-6141.
Floyd L. Sandle Theatre seeks donors to leave seat legacy
The $1,000 Seat-Naming Campaign for Conrad Hutchinson Jr. Performing Arts Center Floyd L. Sandle Theatre is taking place and will leave a legacy.
Proceeds go toward scholarships, equipment, furnishings and maintenance of the Conrad Hutchinson Jr. Performing Arts Center, and other university needs. A $250 deposit must be paid by June 30 and balance paid by December 31.
Plaques will be placed after the gift pledge has been fulfilled. Matching or group gifts are encouraged.
Patrons will recieve a ten percent discount on Floyd L. Sandle Theatre events from Nov. 1 until Nov. 1, 2012. Your name will be entered in a drawing for a two night hotel stay during Bayou Classic 2011.

Volunteers being sought for Squire Creek La. Peach Festival
Volunteers are needed for the 2011 Squire Creek Louisiana Peach Festival June 24-25 in Ruston. Individuals, businesses, civic and other organizations can volunteer. Shifts vary between two and three hours.

Prior to the festival, volunteers help with T-shirt inventory and distribution, and site preparation. During the festival, volunteers help maintain entrance gates; sell food coupons; help with various events including the 5K Run, rodeo, tennis tournament; and other duties.Volunteer slots are available each day of the festival.Each volunteer will receive a special volunteer T-shirt and an armband.

AgCenter and Trinity Methodist Church combines activities
A Basic Sewing class on June 21, 22, 23 and a Baby-Sitting Workshop on June 28, 29, 30 will be held at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Ruston.
The sewing class will be held in Room 112/113 while the Baby-Sitting Workshop will be in the Fellowship Hall. Both from 9 a.m. till Noon.
Youth will learn basic sewing techniques and make several sewing projects. The Baby-Sitting participants will learn how to handle emergency situations, how to set your fee, characteristics of infants and toddlers, and how to bathe a baby.
The cost for the sewing class is $20 and the Baby-Sitting Workshop is $15.

Mount Zion Church to hold Women’s Day celebration Sun.
An Annual Women’s Day celebration will be held at Mount Zion Baptist Church Sunday at 3 p.m.
The guest speaker will be Deloris Smith, a member of the church. Mount Zion is located on 2589 Martin Luther King Jr. Ave. in Grambling.
Rev. Anthony C. Slack, Pastor and the church family extend an invitation to all area churches and their Mission Ministries.

Area church to hold Family and Friends gathering Sunday
Pacesetters’ Word Explosion, will hold Family and Friends Day Sunday, June 12 at 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. The guest speaker will be Minister Gregory Green, a former basketball player for the New York Knicks, now a transformed, powerful man of God. Through his testimony, couples will be inspired and young people will be challenged to rethink their decisions.
Pacesetters Christian Fellowship is located in Jonesboro, across from the courthouse.

Ebenezer Baptist church to sponsor health fair Saturday
A health fair will be held Saturday, June 11 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Ebenezer Baptist church, 600 Ebenezer road, strong, Ark.
The fair will offer free health screenings, for prostate cancer, breast cancer, diabetes, high blood pressure, HIV. There will be a free t-shirt with the screening.
