UConn’s Maya Moore was selected first in this years WNBA draft by the Minnesota Lynx Monday.
Moore led the Huskies to a record 90-game win streak, averaging 19 points and 8 rebounds while doing so.
In 2008, Moore was named Big East Player of the Year. This was the first time (men or women) a freshman was honored for the award.
Other famous Huskie alumni include Swin Cash of the Detroit Shock and Dianna Taurasi of the Phoenix Mercury.
Moore was followed by second overall pick, Elizabeth Cambage of Australia who was drafted by the Tulsa Shock and Gonzaga’s Courtney Vandersloot who was drafted by the Chicago Sky.- Dave Lankster
