Who is Travis Porter?
Before the musical trio from Decatur, Georgia came to headline the 2011 Springfest concert featuring Lloyd and F-1, people asked the aforementioned question. While some people have heard Travis Porter music (i.e. “Make it Rain” and “Bring it Back”) they still might wonder: “Who EXACTLY is Travis Porter?”
Well, search no more.

Travis Porter sat down for an exclusive interview with The Gramblinite.

Q: What artist outside the hip-hop realm would you want to work with whom you have already worked with?

A: I would step outside my boundaries and collaborate with . (long pause) Mike Posner and Bruno Mars.

Q: What can we expect next from Travis Porter?

A: We got the debut album dropping later in the year. But, besides our new mixtape [Music, Money, Magnums] we just dropped this 100 song Travis Porter iPod with all our songs from the past four years.

Q: Growing up, who were your musical influences?

A: Hot Boys and Cash Money Records.

Q: Where did the name “Travis Porter” originate?

A: Travis Porter is a name we came up with in our garage. We had another name at first, but it didn’t go with us. So, we changed it to Travis Porter.

Q: What is your favorite song on Music, Money, Magnums?

A: Ummmmmm. (long pause). It has to be “We Outchea.”

Q: Who is currently in your iPod?

A: Wiz Khalifa, Chris Brown new mix, Jay-Z, Tupac, Lil Wayne, Gucci Mane and T.I.

Q: Beside Atlanta, in your opinion, what

A: Los Angeles really the place to be, but Miami is right after that. Man, if you stay on South Beach, Miami is way better than LA. They have parties every night.

Q: What Atlanta rappers do you listen to/chill with on a regular basis?

A: Young Jeezy, Gucci Mane, T.I.

Q: Where did you go when y’all traveled overseas?

A: “We went to Germany, Japan, and Hawaii. It was lovely man . (Ali to Quez) Didn’t we go surfing out there?’ ‘Yeah’ Quez responded.

Q: What would you tell somebody trying to get in the music industry with no direction?

A: You got to reach out to the DJs, so other people could hear your music. You got to talk to the DJs. The DJ’s are the key to being successful.
