Grambling State University will celebrate Honors Week April 11-13. The theme of this year’s event is “A New Beginning: Celebrating Our Scholars.”
The ceremonial speaker is a Grambling graduate, Dr. Richard Rayford, is a Holly Springs, Miss. native who now resides in Terry, Miss.During the week of festivities all students who have attained a 3.0 or better average during the Spring 2010 or Fall 2010 semester will be honored.
Included in this group of honorees are those students whose names have been added to the 2010 – 2011 Register of Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges, New Millennium Scholars, honor society members, Earl Lester Cole Honor College, and others.
The calendar of events for Honors Week is as follows:
Monday, April 11
Poster displays of student research that has Academic Colleges on campus (all day) been presented at regional and national conferences
Tuesday, April 12
“A Black and Gold Day”
Honors Ceremony & Reception – Hobdy Assembly Center
5:30 p.m. (Faculty in Academic Regalia)
Honor students will receive medallions, Departmental and unit awards.
All females are to wear black dresses or black pantsuits. Males are to wear black or dark slacks, white shirts, and ties.
Parents, family, and friends are encouraged to attend.
Wednesday, April 13
1 p.m. – Parade (honor students) Mid-campus
2 p.m. – Picnic (honor students) President’s lawn (Honor student tee shirts are to be worn)
n Thursday, April 14 Convocation with (TBD) Hobdy Assembly Center
