Rap legend Nate Dogg: His death was a shock to many

March 14 shocked music industry. On that day West Coast hip-hop legend Nathaniel D. Hale also known as Nate Dogg was announced dead.
Long Beach, Calif. newspaper, the Press-Telegram received the news from his family and was the first to report Nate Dogg’s unspecified death. Although the cause of his death is unclear, it was reported that he suffered a stroke in 2007 and another in 2008.

Nate Dogg was born in Long Beach, Calif and dropped out of high school to join the Marines.

After serving for the government for three years, in 1991 he formed the rap group 213 with his local rappers Snoop Dogg and Warren G.

Nate Dogg mastered the art of singing hooks and had a phenomenal music career.
He first caught the nation’s attention when he debuted on Dr. Dre’s 1992 album “The Chronic.”

Since then Nate’s carrier blossomed.
He earned his first of four Grammy nominations in 1995 for one his most famous tracks “Regulate,” a collaboration with Warren G.

His fourth and most recent nomination came from Eminem’s track “Shake That.”
Nate Dogg had a substantial amount of collaborations some include tracks from 50 cent, Ludacris, Snoop Dogg, the Game, Xzibit and Daz Dillinger.

When the nation heard the West Coast hip-hop legend died, they immediately they paid tribute. Snoop Dogg stated on Twitter,
“We lost a true legend n hip hop n rnb. One of my best friends n a brother to me since 1986 when I was a sophomore at poly high where we met. I love u buddy luv. U will always b wit me 4ever n a day u put the g n g funk u put the 1 n 213 n u put yo stamp on evrybdy u ever didit wit.

“I miss u cuzz I am so sad but so happy I got to grow up wit u and I will c u again n heaven cuz u know d slogan. all doggs go to heaven yo homie n baby brotha bigg snoopdogg!!”

California natives on Grambling State’s campus are also devastated by the tragedy. “First thing I said to my self is another west coast originator is gone,” said criminal justice senior Charlie Cheeze.
“We (are) already losing the west musically now we lose a pioneer. I’m just upset … “
