Men’s track team sweeps SWAC champs

The Men’s track team clinched the 2011 SWAC championship with a total of 173 points.

The Grambling State Track and field team competed in the SWAC championships held at LSU this weekend. Coach of the year, Bertram Lovell excitingly expressed that he was confident in his Men’s team performance going into the meet.

“We have a strong group of young men that executed their task perfectly,” said head coach Lovell.

In the field Travis Joseph defends his title as triple jump champion. Domonick Hemphill was named field MVP.

Darwin Price the Men’s Track MVP broke his previous record in the mile run and defends his title. Price earned four gold medals in the 800-meter run, 3000-meter run and Distance medley relay. Price also placed second in the 5000 meter run.

Sophomore Akeem Williams broke both the 400 and 200-meter dash meet records and clinched the titles.
