Grambling alumna, Lena Wilson-Claybon, was recently chosen as supervising post producer on the nationally syndicated television show, Judge Karen’s Court. Lena graduated from Grambling State University in 1982 and began her television career as a commercial writer/producer at KALB-TV5 in Alexandria.After moving to Los Angeles in the early ’90s, she was chosen for Bill Cosby’s prestigious Guy Alexander Hanks/Marvin Miller Screen Writing Program (The Cosby Program), for up and coming, African-American television and film writers. After the program, she landed a gig as a sitcom writer on the USA Network sitcom, Claude’s Crib.
After the show was cancelled, she began working steadily in the entertainment industry as a writer/producer and has since written and produced over 100 hours of television working with companies such as Twentieth Television, Saban Entertainment, BET, Paramount Television, Blue Rider Pictures, Brainbox Entertainment and Litton Entertainment.
Her series work has included Claude’s Crib (USA Network), Moesha (former UPN Network), Texas Justice (FOX Network), The Real Estate Pros (TLC Network) and currently, the nationally syndicated Judge Karen’s Court.
Lena also wrote, directed, and co-produced, a comedic short film, The Myth, which was chosen for Showtime’s Black Filmmakers Showcase and aired on the Showtime Network. She has co-written two musical stageplays, Cheaters that starred Brian McKnight, and Casino that starred the late Gerald Levert and Kelly Price.
In 2007, she formed Limitless Life Entertainment to produce, distribute and exhibit inspirational content via film. Her company was instrumental in working with Lionsgate to bring the premiere screening of The Great Debaters starring Denzel Washington to Wiley College in Marshall, Texas and has since contracted with several non-profit organizations for inspirational film screenings at various venues.
Wilson is also an author.
She co-wrote the self-help business biography, Purpose To Blessings: 14 Faith Principles for Wealthy Business and Healthy Living, and just recently released an eBook entitled, How To Spiritually Attract Your Perfect Mate.
Lena is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. She resides in Los Angeles with her husband.
