Basketball team loses to Jackson State

Jackson State defeated Grambling State 69-57 on Saturday night, lead by top performer Tyrone Henson with 19 points. This game was a rematch from last year’s tournament game, where Grambling State knocked off No. 1 seed Jackson State.

Grambling State came out the game aggressive and held a lead until Jackson State took control of the game at the 8:01 minute mark in the first half and never looked back from there.

Jenniro Bush finished with only 7 points and was only 2-6 from the field. Jackson State did not get much production out of the SWAC’s second leading scorer.

Grambling figured out a way to stop Jenniro, but had no answer for Tyrone Henson.
Throughout the course of the game Tyrone Henson scored in a variety of ways, including 3-5 from the three point line.

Jackson State also took advantage of Grambling State’s inability to control the paint; Jackson State was only 4-8 from behind the arc.

Grambling State squandered opportunities to put points on the board. GSU also missed fast break lay-ups.

Justin Patton and Donald Qualls each gave maximum effort with pitching in 13 points, but just not enough to defeat Jackson State.

With the win for Jackson State that gives them an overall record of 10-9 and 6-1 in the S.W.A.C conference and put Grambling State at 3-16 and 1-6 in the S.W.A.C.

The Tigers next game is home against Arkansas Pine Bluff hopefully the Tigers can bounce back from the tough loss on Saturday night.
