Rob’s birthday to be observed

A birthday celebration to honor Coach Eddie G. Robinson will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 13.The celebration will be held in the Doris Robinson Banquet Hall in the Eddie Robinson Museum.

The event will also mark the first anniversary of the dedication of the Eddie G. Robinson Museum at Grambling State University which opened on the coach’s birthday in 2010.

Among those attending the celebration will be Kyle Ardoin, first assistant to Louisiana Secretary of State Tom Schedler; GSU President Frank G. Pogue; Grambling Mayor Edward Jones, and Coach Eddie Robinson Jr., representing the family.

“This will be as close to a birthday party as we can get,” Wilbert Ellis said.

“We’ll have the works – a celebration complete with cake, candles, balloons and plenty of refreshments. We want the community to come celebrate with us as we pay tribute to a great American and tour this beautiful facility which is a tribute to the legacy of Coach Rob.”

Wilbert Ellis, ex-Grambling State baseball coach, is the president of Friends of the Eddie Robinson Museum (FERM).

The Eddie Robinson museum opened Feb. 12, 2010 and was declared Mike Tomlin Day in the State of Louisiana after his visit to the campus.

Mike Tomlin is the head coach of the AFC champion, Pittsburgh Steelers.
