There is a beautiful princess locked up in the top room of a 10-story dungeon that just so happens to be guarded by a fire-breathing dragon. She has been there for years under the control of an evil queen who told her that only true love will be able to withstand the dragon’s flames.
Many men have come and failed miserably. So every night she sat and waited for her knight to come and rescue her. Eventually, she gave up hope and decided to just jump out of the window.
So one night, she got dressed in her most dazzling of all gowns, put jewels in her hair, sprayed perfume and walked toward the window.
When she got there, she looked back and into her mirror and said goodbye to the only person whoever listened to her.
It was pitch black outside when she stepped onto the ledge, but in the distance she saw what looked like a shining star floating on the ground and she heard a horse galloping and whinnying away.
Moments later, a knight in shining armor arrives in front of the dungeon, looks up and extends his hand to her. She reaches down and motions for him to come up. Just as he gets off his horse, the dragon flies down and eats him.
How many times has this happened to young women like yourself or young women that you know?
Their knight in shining armor comes to their rescue and seems so majestic and gallant at first, but as soon as he faces a challenge, he fails.
Too many women are waiting for their knight in shining armor to come to their rescue, only to be disappointed when he does not know how to fight.
For those of you who do not know, a knight in shining armor is a person, usually a man, who comes to the aid of another, usually a woman, in a gallant and courteous manner.
I was dwelling on this thought for some time and came to the conclusion that women need a knight in busted armor.
Why would anybody want a wounded, rusty armored hero to save them you ask? Well, before I get into that I want to talk about the knight in shining armor first.
I interviewed a few women from different demographics and asked them a few simple questions. The first question was about what their take on the knight in shining armor
saying was.
Courtney Moss of Cal State in San Bernadino, Calif., had this to say: “I believe a knight in shining armor is someone who is their ideal man.
“The Renaissance man, someone who you really like and have so many feelings for. You guys are head over heels for each other. I personally believe in it.”
So basically, a knight in shining armor is the man of one’s dreams? But how many dreams does one need to forget a nightmare?
Too many times women blame next guy for their ex-guy. Moreover, the next guy needs to be stronger than the last guy she was with, the one that made her guard her heart.
The next question was asking if they would rather have a knight in busted armor. Now I will tell you exactly what a knight in
busted armor is.
A knight in shining armor probably ran away from a lot of battles. How else would his armor still be shining?
A knight in busted armor has the proof of all the battles he fought to get to you.
Each scar representing a sacrifice he made for you. For with every war won, a treasure is possessed.
Shawnae Combs, a Grambling State University senior had this to say after being asked if she would prefer a knight in busted armor:
“Yes and he better be pretty beat up.” (She laughs).
He needs to be experienced because life with me will not be euphoric. He needs to be a warrior with all different kinds of technique, the ultimate warrior.”
A knight in busted armor will know how to handle any challenge or battle thrown at him.
A knight in shining armor may look ; but, who knows how many battles he ran from? All he will be able to do is get you into trouble without the courage of getting you out.
A knight in busted armor may look a little rough around the edges; but, he is guaranteed to protect you and fight for your love. With every war won, a treasure is possessed.
The war is made of the challenges you, as a woman, face every day and bring to him hoping he will save you, the treasure is your heart, your love, your all and everything.
So I am going to tell the end of the story again, only this time making it a knight in busted armor.
It was pitch black outside when she stepped onto the ledge; but, in the distance she heard a horse galloping and whinnying away.
Moments later a knight in busted armor arrives in front of the dungeon, looks up and extends his hand to her. She reaches down and motions for him to come up.
Just as he gets off his horse, the dragon flies down and attempts to eats him. He quickly ducks down and draws his sword.
The dragon flies back down and lands right in front of the knight and out of his mouth comes a mighty flame. The knight holds up his shield and starts to run through the flames towards the dragon.
By the time he gets to the dragon, the flames are gone, but his mouth is still open.
He quickly dives into the mouth of the dragon and into the belly of flames.
The dragon, startled, flies up into the sky and suddenly stops. Seconds later the knight cuts his way out of the dragon and is falling from the sky.
As he falls he positions himself so that he may crash through the princess’s window. He lands inside her room and looks up at her.
She stares at his scorched armor and into his eyes. They then embrace each other for an eternity. So ladies, give us knights in busted armor a chance.
