‘Pimp My Room’ successful

Two residents of Jeanes Hall have been declared top winners in “Pimp My Room” competition held on Sept. 30. It was part of dorm hall activities for the month of September and saw 12 competitors from six rooms.Top winners were announced as Sean Jno-Francoise and Leon Norvill whose theme was “Jus Sean & Leon.”

The room was designed to suit their personalities and included large posters of Spider Man and dark bed spread and matching curtains.

“It was an overwhelming feeling to have won the competition and it helped us to showcase our room in a way that we didn’t think it was possible,” Norville said.

He continued, “We were able to show people that the room can be enhanced despite how distasteful it might have seemed from the onset.”

The winner said he would like the competition to become campus-wide and bebroadcast on the university’s channel, which could be a means of encouragement and a means for students to use their time wisely.

Capturing the second place position was Carlton Regis and Clifton Gideon, who presented “Room Plan” while the third spot was snatched by Cameron Miller and Andre Merille whose theme was “Antigua.”

The winner received a large laundry hamper, second place walked away with a snack hamper while the third place received a small hamper. All of the participants received Subway coupons.

Other entrants included: Carroll Francis and Carris Carey who presented Tribute to Kim Kardashian, My Comfort by Geeshian Arvil and Vern Edwards and G-Phi-G presented by Maurice Simpson and Shamoi Richards.

The competition was judged by housing director, Anthony Jackson; assistant housing director Yolanda Taylor; traditional dorms area coordinator, Dana Howard; housing employee Laketha Richards; senior resident assistant, Arsenio Wilborn.

The hall accommodates approximately 70 males and features a diverse mixed of both international and American students.
