Theatre Arts Dept. announces season

The Department of Theatre Arts at Grambling State University has announced its 2010-2011 playbill, “A Season That Thrills, Chills and Kills!”Deathtrap, by Ira Levin and directed by Department Chair, Dr. King David Godwin, is a suspenseful thriller that asks how far will one go to achieve success. It will be presented Oct. 5-8.

Cast includes Reggie Robinson as Sydney Bruhl, Erika Goode-Perry as Myra Bruhl, Timothy Eugene as Clifford Anderson, Ashley Boston as Helga Ten Dorp and Jermaine Perkins as Porter Milgrim.

Stadium View, written by GSU’s own Judi Ann Mason and directed by Karl V. Norman, is centered on the campus of Grambling State University in the late 1970s. It’s an action-packed play centered around love, anger, revenge and Coach Rob.

The seven characters are still very real today. The cast includes Kristin Russell as Charlotta Anderson, Deidre Gilbert as Yasmin Theriot, Patrick Johnnie as Hamilton Marshall, LaShaRae Jacobs as Lydia Marie Dove, Cedric Clark as Zachary Taylor, Jonathan Jackson as Malcomb Perry, and Sean Jones as Willie “The X-Man” Gibbs.

The play will run Nov 15-18.

The department’s first offering in 2011 will be State of Mississippi and the Face of Emmett Till, by Mamie Till Mobley and David Barr III. Dr. Godwin will direct.

The play focuses on how times have changed, yet reminds us that we must not forget how we got here.

The play is based on the true story of Emmett Till. The cast has yet to be finalized for the Feb. 23-26 production.
JAM! One Act Festival is being directed and cast by the Capstone Directing Class.

Auditions will be held early in the spring semester. Production dates are May 2-3.
