Alum’s book makes best-sellers list

Jan F. Whitaker, a best-selling author, widely recognized as a leader in the social services and author-writer industry, has been selected to contribute to Wake Up.Live the Life You Love. Her book is an inside look at herself in sharing her stories of remarkable inner resources which can be tapped into by everyone.

Whitaker’s book How I Got Over is the latest installment in the best-seller inspirational Wake Up.Live the Life You Love series as well as a No. 9 best-seller in the nation in paperback.

A top professional who hailed from the small country town of Holly, Whitaker contributed personal accounts of triumph over physical, mental, emotional and spiritual adversity.
She works as a social worker. Whitaker is a graduate of Grambling State University where she earned a bachelor of science degree in elementary education, master of social work, and a master of science degree in criminal justice. She is also a certified sentence mitigation Specialist.

Whitaker is a member of Greenwood Acres Full Gospel Baptist Church in Shreveport, where Bishop Fred A. Caldwell Sr. is pastor.

“I give God all the Praise, Worship, and Glory, “first” because of who He is, and then for this honor He has bestowed upon her,” Whitaker said.
