The men’s and women’s cross country teams placed first in the Mississippi College season opener Wednesday. On the men’s side, Top 10 finishers were:
First place, Darwin Price; fourth, Deonte Pope; fifth, Trevor Gayten; and eighth, Brian Ramos.Leading the Lady Tigers were:
Seventh place, Tieshia Alexander; 11th, Christina Vinson; 12th, Shequea Howard; and 13th, Ameesha Washington.
Alexander is a freshman who said her first collegiate cross country performance was “very interesting.”
“I was very nervous, didn’t expect to get into the Top 10, but I was motivated by my fellow teammates.”
Price, who is no stranger to the spotlight, had predictions for the 2010 cross country season.
“I’m very confident that our team will win SWAC,” Price said.
